The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), an entity of the Department of Science and Innovation and Digicall Group, a multinational business process management and outsourcing company, which provides specialist services to the insurance, banking, telecommunications, and retail industries have agreed to work together to support Digicall’s business service solutions through advanced and unique technology solutions.    

The two organisations signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Pretoria on Tuesday, 21 February 2023. This newly established partnership, which has been endorsed by CSIR Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr Thulani Dlamini and the Director and Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Digicall South Africa, Musa F. Sambo, will enable both entities to collaboratively explore customised, end-to-end technology solutions that will contribute towards establishing advanced business systems and value offerings for Digicall.

Speaking at the signing ceremony in Pretoria, Sambo singled out as necessary that diverse forms of collaboration enable not just new solutions, but the broad application of those solutions for varied markets and territories such as South Africa, the rest of Africa, and those wherein Digicall operates.

As such, the MoU intends to explore the deployment of various technologies in areas that include climate modelling, radar-based motion sensing, digital technologies, veristic print technologies, otoacoustic emission, nanotechnology, as well as fleet management and asset tracking.

Dr Dlamini emphasised the value of industrial partnerships, saying that they would help in meeting the technology needs of South African businesses.

“We are delighted to establish this partnership with Digicall. Fostering strategic collaborations for the development and implementation of technologies in support of South African industrial establishments is at the core of the CSIR Strategy. We, therefore, intend to work diligently together to develop innovations that will enhance Digicall’s business outcomes,” he said.
