The African Mining Indaba is a space for unmissable, high-impact networking, and creating opportunities and conversations. This platform has a unique and widening perspective of the African mining industry, bringing together visionaries and innovators across the entire value chain.

The CSIR was part of this massive event, which took from 6 to 9 February 2023 in Cape Town, where players in the mining industry robustly engaged on unlocking the future of African Mining. CSIR staff who were present at the event described #TeamCSIR’s contribution and media engagement as ‘incredible’!

CSIR CEO Dr Thulani Dlamini is pictured below at a high-powered panel discussion on “How can Academia Keep up with Exponential Technological Progress?” Joining him on 7 February 2023 was Dr Molefi Motuku (CEO: Mintek), Prof. Zeblon Vilakazi (Vice-Chancellor and Principal: University of the Witwatersrand) and Prof. Sue Harrison (Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research and Internationalisation, University of Cape Town). The session was chaired by Prof. Francis William Petersen (Rector and Vice-Chancellor: University of the Free State).
