Enterprises University of Pretoria (Enterprises UP) together with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) have collaborated in presenting the Online Course in Architectural and Engineering Approaches to Infection Control.
This is a niche-specific short course for architects, engineers, and healthcare professionals who are actively involved in the planning, design, construction, management and operation of healthcare facilities, correctional facilities, dormitories or hostels in resource-constrained settings.
The course provides delegates with excellent insight into epidemiological concerns and risk factors, mechanisms of transmission relevant to the built environment, methods of avoidance and mitigation of risk posed by pathogens such as Covid-19 and Tuberculosis, as well as practical information on best practice approaches.
This short course has shown relevance in the current market and is endorsed by the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and contribute to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for professionals.
In addition, CSIR has sponsored 60 free seats to applicants who meet the requirements. The course is presented in the form of virtual sessions - whereby a facilitator uses a web tool called Blackboard Collaborate, to present content that would’ve normally been facilitated during a face-to-face session.
