The CSIR has developed numerous surveillance technology demonstrators, which include multispectral day/night cameras for short, medium and long ranges, as well as lightweight camera payloads for nanosatellites and drones that can be used in a broad range of land, sea, air and space platforms. A wide range of supplementary image processing algorithm toolboxes is available for image enhancement and automated object detection, tracking and recognition.

The group works hand in hand with the surveillance and countermeasure systems group to build hardware required to deliver surveillance and platform protection capabilities.
