Renowned CSIR principal researcher Prof. Linda Godfrey, has been appointed on the advisory panel of two international councils on waste, namely; Women of Waste (WOW!) Task Force and The Alliance to End Plastic Waste (Alliance).

Prof. Godfrey has extensive experience in waste and the circular economy in a developing country context, and is currently the Manager of the Waste RDI Roadmap Implementation Unit.

The passing of Professor Bob Scholes shocked not only South Africa, but also the world and, as such, tributes continue to pour in from across the globe. Colleagues and friends who have crossed various and dynamic paths with the late Scholes at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) saluted him and described him as a gentle, caring, sensitive, intuitive, perceptive and passionate giant. Scholes was an alumni of the CSIR and we were looking forward to working with him on the CSIR alumni program.

Cybersecurity experts from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) have urged the adult community to play an active role in protecting young people from cyberbullying, as part of minimising the scourge in society.

The researchers were briefing the media today on the negative effects of cyberbullying, and providing some solutions to the problem, which takes place through online communication platforms.
