Dr Hencharl Strauss was appointed as manager of the CSIR Photonics Centre as of 1 March 2022.
Dr Strauss joined the CSIR in 2009 in a postdoctoral position while completing his PhD through Stellenbosch University. He was appointed as senior scientist in 2010 before becoming Research Group Leader for laser sources. He is a respected expert and industry professional with several publications and conference papers to his name.
Charl will be seconded by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) to fulfil his managerial role at the non-profit company. Harding was instrumental in the establishment of the Impact Catalyst until it was officially launched by Anglo American, the CSIR, Exxaro, World Vision South Africa and Zutari in 2019.
The Aerospace Industry Support Initiative (AISI) has launched a programme aimed at supporting the marine sector. The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) congratulates Dr Patience Mthunzi-Kufa, Research Group Leader for Biophotonics at the CSIR, for being appointed by President Cyril Ramaphosa as the Deputy Chairperson of the Advisory Council on National Orders, effective 1 March 2022.
The CSIR congratulates Tendani Tsedu, Group Manager: Strategic Communication, for being recognised as an Accredited Public Relations practitioner (APR) by the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (PRISA).
The accreditation is also recognised by the South African Qualification Authority, and it is the highest designation that can be achieved in the Public Relations and Communication Management industry at PRISA.
