The look and feel of South Africa's future housing and neighbourhoods will form the heart of the Off-the-Wall Human Settlements Showcase, which will be held in Pretoria on 8 and 9 February 2019.

The event, a first for the country, is part of a process to develop and adopt the Science, Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Human Settlement (STI 4 SHS) Roadmap that is due for completion in September this year.

The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) would like to inform all its stakeholders of a power outage at its Scientia Campus in Pretoria. This is a result of damage caused by a lightning strike to the campus’s main transformers last night.

Due to the outage, some of the organisation’s operations have been affected, however a business continuity plan has been instituted to ensure the smooth running of critical services and infrastructure during this period.

Science and Technology Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane hereby announces and welcomes the new Board of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).

The CSIR, a world-class African research and development organisation, is an entity of the Department of Science and Technology.  It is responsible for multidisciplinary research and technological innovation to improve South Africans' quality of life.

The appointment of the Board was confirmed by Cabinet on Wednesday, 6 December 2018.
