Data driven modelling and simulation workshop
On Wednesday, 23 August 2023, the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) collaborated with the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) to host a workshop on data-driven modelling and simulation. This event brought together more than 140 researchers, academics and industry practitioners at the CSIR International Convention Centre.
The workshop was engaging and enlightening, featuring a panel of eight experts who shared invaluable insights on data-driven solutions.
IAH Worldwide Groundwater Congress
The International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH) hosted its 50th Worldwide Groundwater Congress at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 18 to 22 September 2023.
From the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Water Research Centre, the delegation included Dr Harrison Piennaar, Research Group Leader; Dr Zanele Ntshidi, senior researcher and Tebogo Madlala, a researcher.
Transport Evolution Africa Forum

OnTrack Technologies, a prominent company in the aerospace industry, utilises and develops young talent through its Aerospace Industry Support Initiative (AISI)-funded projects. The two AISI-supported projects are: the development of the Jonker Sailplanes JS5 open-class glider and the creation of a near-vibrationless engine.
