CSIR young researchers using 4IR technologies to make an impact in SA

Young researchers from CSIR briefs media on the impact of, opportunities available and future skills required by young people to thrive in the rise of the fourth industrial revolution (4IR).

The briefing focus on how South African youth can seize the opportunities presented by the FIR, such as machine learning, robotics and additive manufacturing.

Young researchers from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) will brief the media on the impact of, opportunities available and future skills required by young people to thrive in the rise of the fourth industrial revolution (4IR).

The briefing will focus on how South African youth can seize the opportunities presented by the FIR, such as machine learning, robotics and additive manufacturing.

These researchers are at the forefront of cutting-edge FIR technologies. Senior researcher, Dr Monnamme Tlotleng (35), will brief the media on 3D printing and its applications. Researcher in computer vision, Windy Mokuwe (26), will share her research in machine learning and Masters Student in robotics, Nomfundiso Khuma (26) will focus on her research on control and path planning for a mobile manipulator.

Members of the media will have the opportunity to tour the CSIR Machine Learning laboratory and view some exciting 4IR projects.
