Michael Roux is a registered professional engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa. With over 15 years of experience in the municipal road sector, he has been actively involved in road and stormwater maintenance, construction and road asset management. Roux has been with the CSIR since 2002, primarily focusing on road asset management, bridge management systems, vehicle load control and addressing road wear caused by heavy vehicles.
His contributions extended to the development and implementation of overload control strategies for road authorities. Notably, he was a team member of an African Capacitors AfCAP project dedicated to producing regional guidance on the development of climate-resilient rural access in Africa through research and knowledge sharing among participating countries. Currently, Roux serves as the project manager for a long-term project providing support to the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport with road asset management.
