CSIR senior scientist and advanced material testing lab manager, Georges Mturi, is South Africa’s rising star. Mturi scooped the Standard Bank Rising Star Award in the Service: Public & Private category at an event held at the Hilton Hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg recently.

Stephanie Fanucchi, a CSIR cell biologist, was awarded the 2016 L'Oreal-UNESCO Sub-Saharan Africa Award for her work involving the use of cutting-edge microscopes and synthetic biology tools to understand how immune genes are regulated. The two organisations signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Pretoria on Tuesday, 21 February 2023.
