The CSIR has established a Learning Factory to support South African industries in acquiring the skills needed to maximise the benefits of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. First online course now available! The first course will be an introduction to the 4IR in South Africa and will be delivered fully online, accessible free of charge at your convenience until 31 January 2022. Charting the future of science, technology and innovation (STI), the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) jointly hosted a workshop on the Decadal Plan from 22 to 23 November 2021. This workshop, which took place at the CSIR’s Knowledge Commons, with key CSIR and DSI drivers, largely focussed on STI priority areas in support of the societal grand challenges.
The Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) will host this year's Science Forum South Africa (SFSA) at its traditional home, with a number of exciting in-person sessions set to take place at the CSIR International Convention Centre (ICC) in Pretoria.
Proposals for grant funding are hereby invited for the following three separate and independent elements within the RISP:
A. Regional Innovation Networking platforms
B. Feasibility study or business plan
C. Innovation Baseline Studies

This year saw the integration of two key South African partners in the 4IR space namely, Robotics and Mechatronics (RobMech) and the Pattern Recognition Association of South Africa (PRASA). The conference was attended by experts in the fields of additive manufacturing, electrical engineering, pattern recognition, robotics, and mechatronics.
