The head of the CSIR Energy Research Centre, Dr Thabo Hlalele, led the discussion with the Flux50 members. The topics centred around areas of collaboration and energy. IST-Africa Conference

The IST-Africa Conference was hosted by the Government of South Africa through the Department of Science and Innovation, supported by the European Commission and African Union Commission. The conference took place from Wednesday, 31 May to Friday, 2 June 2023.

This was the eighteenth conference in an annual series of Ministerial Level Technology Research Conferences. The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Society on Societal Implications of Technology (SSIT), IEEE South Africa Section and IEEE Africa Council were technical co-sponsors.

ReLiSA national workshop

From 15 to 16 May 2023, the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) co-hosted a two-day national workshop with the Restoring Landscapes in South Africa (ReLiSA) for a consortium project at the CSIR International Convention Centre. ReLiSAs consortium project is led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Over 80 delegates physically attended the workshop and thirty joined virtually.
