On Thursday, 3 November 2022, the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) will open its doors to the media, giving them the chance to tour the Photovoltaic (PV) Testing Facility and engage with renewable energy experts and researchers about the vital research being conducted to harness a robust South African economy.
On 3 November 2022, researchers from South Africa’s first Industrial Biocatalysis Hub (IBH), hosted at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), will brief the media on the progress made in driving the uptake of biocatalysis, an environmentally friendly and cost- effective technology that South Africa’s biomanufacturing industry can leverage to reduce its carbon footprint.
The two-day conference will bring together scientific experts, academia and industry leaders from around the world, and members of the public to evaluate how research, development and innovation (RD&I) can be harnessed to build a robust South African economy.
This year’s conference will be held under the theme: ‘Harnessing research, development and innovation for a robust South African economy’.

The National Cleaner Production Centre South Africa (NCPC-SA) hosts a colloquium on Friday, 2 September 2022 at the Pretoria National Botanical Gardens and online. The colloquium will unpack the progress made in South Africa and Africa on sustainable industrial development since the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) hosted in Joburg exactly 20 years ago this week.
The Joburg WSSD resulted in numerous sustainable development commitments by South Africa, including the establishment of the NCPC-SA.
